FOMO: The Thing Keeping You from your Progress

*Steve Irwin Voice* “This right here is the Grappling bug and let me tell ya when this lil bugga gets his teeth into its bloody hard to shake em loose”   It’s true. Once you start training and you see how challenging and fun it is and you start to make changes in your physical and mental wellbeing, it becomes addicting, you want to do it all the time, and get as good as you can as quick as you can; that’s great but there’s one thing whether you’re a beginner or a higher rank, that can derail your progress in the blink of an eye   FOMO.   That stands for Fear of Missing out.   Whether its social media, instructionals, your own training partners, there’s SO much information out there about everything; technique, strength and conditioning, nutrition etc that it becomes extremely easy to get overloaded, thinking “i need to know this and that and this” before you know it, you’re so busy “learning” you can’t remember anything   So how can you fight this FOMO?   Keep things Simple.   This is a Massive principle of ours at No Limits.    It’s easy to look at fancy techniques on youtube in a vacuum sure, they look cool, but is it useful? Can it be done when an opponent is resisting? Can you hit it in a variety of different positions or situations?   There are a massive amount of techniques, positions, and variables to those techniques positions and variables in the grappling sports, trying to learn everything at once is a bit like trying to swallow an elephant whole, you’re just going to be left overwhelmed, confused, and wondering why the hell you started doing this in the first place. It is better instead to focus on learning just 2-3 techniques from each position. The good news is that at No Limits, we try to help you fight FOMO before it ever even rears its head   Our curriculum is designed to focus on one position or one submission per month. This allows our athletes to have a solid grasp on the techniques and the “nooks and crannies” of the position and it allows our coaches to link the weeks back toward one another which will help you to develop a roadmap/gameplan that is simple, effective, and easily retained and implemented right away.   Grappling is a life changing endeavor. We love that our athlete’s come in and immediately develop a passion for it. Our Job at No Limits is to not only help you to further develop that passion but also to give it focus so that you can accelerate your learning, have more fun, and reach your goals faster pace than if you let FOMO overcome your training  If you would like experience our coaching methods first hand, Send us a message  here  or shoot us a text (570) 308-7111 and we’ll get you started!
