Who is no-gi Jiu-Jitsu for?
Whether you're a former athlete looking for a new competitive outlet or someone who wants to learn new skills and challenge yourself, No-Gi Grappling is one of the most demanding and rewarding ways to grow both mentally and physically.
We specialize in helping wrestlers transition into grappling while keeping the camaraderie, structure, and drive they love. But no matter your background, if you're ready to train and improve, you're welcome here. You don’t need to be an athlete to start. Whether you’re stepping onto the mats for the first time or you've been training for years, we make sure the environment is motivating, not intimidating.
Training here isn't just about learning techniques. It's about pushing yourself to improve in every area of life. Some people come in with big goals, while others just want to get better little by little. Either way, we’re here to help you move forward every day.

(Coach) Matt is very good at getting the best out of me. He gives all of us the confidence to go out and compete because of how detail-oriented he is with our preparation, but beyond that what stands out the most is how much he cares about us as athletes. He really goes above and beyond to make sure our individual needs are met.

Common Questions.
No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu focuses on grappling without the traditional gi (kimono). Instead of gripping fabric, you’ll use body control, clinching, and wrestling-based techniques. This makes the pace faster and more dynamic, emphasizing positional control, submissions, and takedowns without relying on grips.
No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu is a sport, not a full self-defense system. While the techniques can translate to real-world situations, we do not train striking, weapon defense, or situational awareness which are key elements of a complete self-defense program. Our focus is on competition and skill development in a controlled sporting environment.
Not at all. We welcome complete beginners, and our coaching approach ensures that anyone, regardless of fitness level or experience, can start training safely and effectively.
No, we are a No-Gi only academy. Our training is designed to maximize the effectiveness of No-Gi techniques, incorporating elements of wrestling, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and judo to create a well-rounded grappling game.
Not at all! We work hard to ensure a safe and inclusive training environment for all sizes, ages, and experience levels. We also try to pair training partners appropriately to ensure a positive experience.
Wear a rash guard or fitted athletic top and grappling shorts or spats without zippers or pockets. Avoid baggy clothing, as it can get in the way during training. Bring a water bottle, and if possible, flip-flops for off-mat areas.
You can book a free trial class to see if No-Gi grappling is right for you. Just click here to get started.
We offer a monthly membership for $100, or a $10 drop-in fee if you just want to try a class. There are no long-term contracts, so you can train on your own terms.
